Home Decor

A few months ago while I attended a Quarterly consultant meeting a fellow consultant taught us how to stamp on candles and for months I've been wanting to try it on my own. On Friday, I finally did it, I found the perfect candle and over the weekend I picked out a few stamp sets and ink colors and brushed up on the techniques on the web.

What a wonderful piece for my living room. Just click on the picture to see more up close. Check out the supplies I used below.

First you will need some tissue paper, plain white, and some wax paper from the kitchen cabinet. Cut pieces of the tissue paper to the size of the images you're going to stamp. I used a green colored candle, so when picking my colors I needed to go darker than usual so the images would show up.

Next, stamp images on tissue paper and cut out, leaving very little tissue paper as possible around the images. I started by placing the lace doily images. Once I determined where the images where going to go, I then cut pieces of wax paper large enough to wrap completely around the candle with extra to hold on to. Carefully, place an image on the candle and wrap it with the wax paper. Turn on and let the heat gun warm up, then quickly go over the stamped image with the heat gun, making sure you do not melt the candle, otherwise you will remove the glossy finish on the candle. While heating you will notice the edges of the image disappear, once completely set remove the wax paper and throw away. Each time you place a new image on the candle you will need to use a new piece of wax paper.

Repeat until the candle is decorated.

  2. Thanks, Annette! I had so much fun making it and I'm so glad I didn't mess it up. It is somewhat tricky to do with this many stamped images.
