Homemade Soup

Still fighting the flu and an inner ear infection!  Day 8...and still living either in bed or in my recliner with my laptop, sprite zero, tissues, meds, Tylenol, Advil and today with some homemade soup.  Last week I ventured into my craft room (one day) and having cabin fever on Saturday when I was feeling better, I made it to breakfast with my mom and dad, to Target for more tissues, to my upline's open house for about 10 minutes to pick up some clearance items she had for sale and then feeling real brave to Port Orange to visit with my friend Kathi and her family.  Well I guess I over did it that day, I was back in bed yesterday afternoon and at home again today from work.  As I re-coop, I decided to make some soup today, split pea, one of my favorites.....sorry no pictures here, didn't think of it while making it.

Here's my recipe:
1 bag of dried split peas
1 small onion diced in itty-bitty pieces
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup diced ham
2 cans of chicken broth
Add 5-6 cups of water, a dash of garlic salt, salt and pepper.

Add all ingredients together, cover and bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to simmer for about 4 hours, add water as needed, but not to much.
Next, remove about half of the soup and place it in a blender and puree, then pour mixture back into the main pot of soup.
Continue cooking for about another hour and it's done.  Yummy....my favorite soup in my favorite mug from Hawaii.  (Aren't the girls on the mug cute?)
Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by :)
