Fashionista Tutorial

 Fashionista Wall Hanging Tutorial starts here.  Well actually, above is the finished project and below is how my work space looked when I was done.....When I got up this morning I could hardly believe my eyes, where did I even have room to work, I think is see an inch or two near the edge of the desk.

Where to begin, well all products used are Close To My Heart, shown below, with the exception of a Cricut cartridge called "Fancy Frames"

At least that what I thought.....when I start a project, there is no rhyme or reason, I jump in feet first.  I did know that I wanted to use the new Fashionista Stamp Set and this sheet of paper from the new Stella Paper Packet, and that's all I really knew.

  Then I begin the hunt, through my craft room looking for something to make with these products....I have a new Cricut cartridge "Fancy Frames" which I've had for about 6 months and I never used it :(  So, I picked my frame...

  First I thought to make it black,

didn't care to much for that, so

I decided to use White Daisy for the frame and background.  Then it was too white and the search began again for a background stamp and I chose Diverse Backgrounds, stamping the frame with cocoa ink with the polka dot stamp from the set around all the edges, then gluing together the frame, background and stella paper piece.

 

Now came the fashionista image, stamping the image in cocoa, black, lagoon, sunset, smoothie, and chocolate.  I even embossed her in cocoa and black.  Going with the cocoa image, lagoon for the skirt, a second cocoa for the blouse and the black embossed purse, cut and clue. Note: skirt and purse are glued to the image and the blouse is popped up, and don't forget the belt (in lagoon).

Next the flowers.

 

Cutting the flowers in 5 different sizes out of the tulip print and then the same cuts on the reverse side of the tulip print, distress all edges with cocoa ink.

 Next, glue the same color sides of the paper together, only adding glue to the inside edge of the flowers. When gluing the pieces overlap them so the two colors with show.

 

Prepare flowers.  Pretty cool, two toned flowers.  But guess what, I didn't like this combo, so I went with these....

Cut the center piece for the stamped wording, border strip, flourishes and leaves.

Then you're ready to put it all together.  Flourishes are distressed in cocoa ink and the leaves are scored and sanded for more dimension.

Fashionista Wall Hanging

Here's a super quick post this evening, almost midnight and I just finished this wall hanging for my office at work.  Check back tomorrow for a complete supplies list and tutorial.

CTMH Florentine Rose and Butterfly Decorated Box

Sometimes I get really lucky and I actually find time to just have fun with CTMH products....no pressure to create for a workshop, club or class, and I'm really able to get my fingers inked for the heck of it.

After a long day at work I usually unwind in my craft room and sometimes neglecting my hubby, so to spend more time with Todd I worked on this creation during commercial breaks and while sitting on the couch with a trusty TV tray, glue and ink.

What a find at the local Dollar Tree these amazing octagon shaped boxes for a $1 each.

I covered the box with Florentine Paper Packet X7153B, distressing the edges with Twilight ink Z2160.

Border strip is stamped in Twilight using Electric Edges stamp set C1450.  Like I said during commercial breaks I'd run into my room and cut out the roses in colonial white card stock, leaves in bamboo card stock and the butterflies in desert sand card stock with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge exclusive to CTMH in various sizes.

Again, during a break, I'm off to my room to stamp the roses with Happy Journey stamp set D1428 in Creme Brulee and Indian Corn Blue ink; the leaves in Olive ink with the Diverse Backgrounds (the speckled) stamp and the butterflies in Indian Corn Blue with the Diverse Backgrounds stamp set D1508 (poke-a-dot print).

While watching TV with the hubby I distress the edges of the roses with Twilight and Goldrush and for the leaves using a scoring stylus and a soft pad I create veins in the leaves distressing the veins and edges with New England Ivy, then curling them with the stylus.  I also curl each pedal to the flowers before rolling them and after, roll them tight and they have more definition when done.

Now, for the butterflies I covered them with liquid glass and let dry for about an hour.  Then you're ready to assemble.  Oh, almost forgot, I cut out flourishes using the Cricut in Desert Sand card stock distressing with New England Ivy.
